Key job responsibilities
  • Work directly with the marketing team to confirm music clearance needs for trailers, brand campaigns and promotional assets
  • Handle all aspects of music licensing including researching rights holders, preparing clearance requests, negotiating fees, drafting Confirmation Letters, advising on licensing terms, reviewing and redlining licenses (as and when required) and routing for signatures
  • Draft boilerplate master and sync licenses, and Certificates of Authorship for any commissioned or work-for-hire engagements
  • Work closely with legal to escalate compliance issues and to assist with resolutions
  • Track licensing terms and expiration dates in shared spreadsheet and archive executed licenses
  • Partner effectively across internal divisions and with external stakeholders, including creating a strong network within the marketing and music teams and educating them on music licensing topics.
  • Set up new processes to enable the team to support the marketing team at scale and to guide new marketing leads in emerging markets.
A day in the life
This role will handle a high volume of music licensing requests from the marketing team under tight deadlines and with changing priorities. The successful candidate will also need to recommend alternative licensing structures and will leverage their strong negotiating skills to secure licensing fees that align with budget limitations. This role will also need to educate marketing teams in emerging markets, set up new processes and support marketing teams as they scale. This role will work closely with the EU Studios Music team based in London and the rest of the sync music licensing team based in Los Angeles.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Multiple years of relevant industry experience
  • Extensive knowledge of music licensing including an understanding of licensing terminology, recording splits and cue sheets
  • Solid relationships with labels, publishers and music libraries
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within an international team/company
  • Experience being first in a role, educating internal stakeholders and setting up new processes
  • Experience with Airtable spreadsheet-database software
  • Knowledge of Rapid Cue
  • Experience with rights management databases
