Position
The World of Cross Stitching is the UK’s number 1 cross stitching magazine and is regarded as the trusted authority in stitching. The magazine is a flagship brand of Our Media’s highly successful craft portfolio.
Every issue of The World of Cross Stitching is packed with over 80 easy-to-use patterns from the best international designers, which appeal to all skill levels. The magazine provides all the inspiration, best practical advice and technical features for stitchers to indulge in their passion, and aims to share the latest ideas, exciting competitions and relevant products for stitchers to get the maximum from their hobby.
The Production Editor is a vital role working as part of a small, highly efficient team. It is your responsibility to manage the page production process of the magazine to the highest possible standard and to deadline, maintaining a consistent editorial tone. Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, as is an ability to adapt copy to magazine style, and a keen eye for detail and accuracy. You will have confidence in your abilities, be a brilliant organiser, a great communicator and a team player.

Requirements

Requirements
Essential
  • Experience in an editorial environment, with proven experience of running the magazine production process
  • Excellent command of written English, including the ability to adapt tone to magazine style
  • Excellent subbing, editing and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational abilities, with experience of putting good process management into practice and prioritising workload
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office and general Mac skills
  • Ability to produce engaging content for social media channels such as Instagram and Facebook
Preferred
  • Knowledge of the craft market/personal interest in craft, cross stitch in particular
  • Experience of creating online content, eg blog writing and newsletter production
