Job Introduction
BBC Asian Network is the UK’s biggest Asian multi-platform radio station celebrating British Asian identity - the culture, music and conversation that influence British Asians today.
We are looking for a Producer who is passionate about our content and shares our love of radio to join the team and work across Asian Network Evenings for 12 months.
The successful candidate will produce Bobby Friction and Pritt on BBC Asian Network.
If you have an excellent understanding of these shows as well as the culture relevant to the Asian Network audience, are tapped into popular youth culture and trends especially music, social media and radio - then we are interested in hearing from you.
This is a production position working for BBC Audio. BBC Audio devises, develops and delivers original content for the BBC. We are the key suppliers of daytime and evening programmes across Asian Network, Radio 1 and 1Xtra. Our portfolio includes Asian Network Breakfast with Nikita Kanda, Haroon Rashid, Bobby Friction, Noreen Khan, Pritt, Nadia Ali and many more.
These stations look to connect the BBC with the next generation of young audiences and be the leading voice in UK youth culture.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on Asian Network programmes, but may also be required to work across the wider Radio 1, 1Xtra and Asian Network production unit. Producers are responsible for creating music or speech content for live and pre-recorded programmes as well as events and outside broadcasts across the three networks. As a Producer, you’re expected to collaborate with others to deliver creative ideas and shows to a brief set by Network.

Requirements

Are you the right candidate?
You’ll need a passion for youth culture and a deep understanding of the culture and heritage relevant to the young Asian Network audience. You’ll be knowledgeable about the music played on the Asian Network and have relevant experience working in radio. You will be driven by creativity, with strong editorial instincts and the leadership skills to spearhead a team in delivering compelling, ambitious and distinctive content for young diverse audiences.
In addition to excellent creative skills, you will be a strong communicator, have excellent planning and organisational abilities and be able to prioritise activities to meet operational deadlines. High-quality content production skills including live radio studio operation and audio editing is essential.

Benefits & Perks

Salary: £39,390 - £45,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
