About the Position
The Audio Department is responsible for generating and distributing all musical content for the catalogue.
The mastering assistant will report to the Senior Mastering Engineer, and will be responsible for gathering, organising and checking premasters, and quality checking and processing mastered audio. Along with the rest of the Audio team, the role holder will also be regularly interacting with the wider Extreme team, the Bleeding Fingers team, and our composers.
**Key Responsibilities **
  • Gathering premasters in line with most urgent albums in the mastering queue
  • Liaising with producers face-to-face & composers via email to ensure that all necessary audio is received
  • Communicating between parties if resupplies are required, frequently following up to make sure that albums are not held up in the queue
  • Topping, tailing and levelling mastered audio
  • Quality checking mastered audio using Pro Tools
  • De-clicking & Denoising
  • Creating 30 second edits from full and instrumental versions of every track
  • Naming up files according to conventions
  • Handing albums to post production team in a timely manner
  • Any other tasks to assist audio team

Requirements

Person Specification
Essential requirements
  • Extensive experience of quality-checking audio
  • Keen ear for ensuring consistency - that multiple tracks sound uniform in level and style
  • Thorough attention to detail & high focus when quality checking
  • Excellent understanding of song structure, key musical elements and instrumentation
  • Experience using Pro Tools for checking & editing audio
  • A good understanding and experience of using mastering processes such as EQ and compression
  • Ability to prioritise and ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner
  • Performs duties and assigned tasks with considerable degree of independent accountability
  • Flexible and enthusiastic approach to the role
Desirable requirements
  • Experience of / a good understanding of production music
  • A wide interest in music for film and television.
  • Experience using cloud-based storage systems such as OneDrive
  • Good experience using Sharepoint, Microsoft applications and Apple software
