Manager, Royalty Services

The Royalty Services team supports BMG's diverse clientele across its various businesses (Publishing, Recorded Music, Production Music, Books, A/V) through inquiry resolution and the professional handling of sensitive client information, along with inquiries from internal employees across varying hierarchy levels and global territories.
As Manager, Royalty Services, your primary mission is to support the Publishing business with various functions related to the administration of BMG's publishing repertoire, including, but not limited to, data updates, account reconciliation, rights research, royalty reporting, and analysis.
You will interact and communicate with internal and external clients to assist in providing the highest level of service. You will collaborate with international colleagues from various departments to ensure our global strategy. Your approach to the task is creating solutions and solving problems.
What You’ll Be Doing.
Data Maintenance & Cleanup
  • Handle data updates and cleanups with a focus on clients and rates required resulting from client inquiries or internally identified business needs.
  • Request adjustments and provide royalty analysis to the royalty processing team when necessary.
  • Manage team service tickets and conduct a preliminary review of all new inquiries to assess and define scope, size, and urgency.
Suspense and Calculation Error Income Account Tracking
  • Monitor and release income from Suspense and Calc Error for US repertoire per established reduction targets.
  • Liaise with the International team on Suspense and Calc Error Income clearance efforts, system development, and process refinement.
  • Oversee the Deferred Income review process and assist the Coordinator in their review efforts
Information Service
  • Review Interested Party, Client, Contract, and Royalty Calculation data to determine the correct royalty structures.
  • Research and provide timely responses to rights queries and information Business partners.
Customer Relations
  • Assist Client Services in maintaining and developing relationships with admin customers.
Miscellaneous
  • Engage in and handle other ongoing processes or ad-hoc projects as business needs dictate or as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Supervision of temporary employees and interns as necessary
  • Create and Monitor Reporting Dashboards
  • Assist in Production Music workflows

Requirements

Must Haves.
  • You have a basic understanding of music publishing and copyright industry practices.
  • You have familiarity with music publishing or other similar IP agreements, including royalty rate structures.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft 365 suite, especially Excel (Pivots and common lookup functions)
  • You hold excellent analytic and problem-solving skills and the ability to identify when information is incomplete.
  • Additionally, you are comfortable handling a high volume of varying and sometimes complex data entry.
  • You have contract interpretation skills and experience
It’s a plus (not a must) if you also have: a bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, experience with BI Tools and the likes of Looker and Tableu, familiarity of Vistex iMaestro or similar music publishing system, ticketing and documenting using Atlassian Products and/or knowledge of SQL query and Marco’s writing.
