WHO ARE YOU? Passionate and driven, with substantial experience clearing music rights for synchronization, and enthusiasm for the importance of synch licensing in the music industry. You understand the interests of the many different parties involved, from artists, their managers, record labels publishers, and performing rights organizations on the licensor side, to Live Nation’s Fortune 500 brand partners, media platforms, supervisors, and clearance parties on the licensee side. You are friendly and diplomatic, can navigate situations with many different parties involved, and can also handle intense, time sensitive negotiations. THE JOB Live Nation Entertainment is seeking a Music Licensing Manager on the Artist Rights team to handle all synch licensing needs for the Media & Sponsorship Division and its brand clients – from digital content, virtual performances, and promo videos to national commercial campaigns. This is a full-time, salaried position, reporting to the SVP of Artist Rights. This role is responsible for one of the many ways that Live Nation pays artists by licensing rights from performers and songwriters, while also balancing program budgets and client needs.
Live Nation Media & Sponsorship architects, sells and manages the company’s national corporate sponsorship programs with the world’s most recognizable brands. What This Role Will Do
  • Negotiate licenses for music use in branded content, concert VOD, recaps and promo videos for programs across Live Nation’s Media and Sponsorship division from beginning to end: rights research, requesting quotes, reviewing and trafficking paperwork with clients, LN Legal and third party licensors, and ensuring license fees are paid appropriately.
  • Music Supervise and Negotiate licenses for music in ad campaigns for select clients
  • Advise internal staff on music rights requirements for new projects
  • Work closely with LN brand managers and production teams to confirm licensing rights
  • Secure audio assets for production when needed from labels, artists, etc.
  • Negotiate Label Waivers for live recordings of performances by artists under exclusive recording contracts
  • Coordinate closely with Artist Managers on song selection and music clearance needs within artist-brand partnerships
  • Report license status information for clients and internal teams, and manage license tracking documents

Requirements

What This Person Will Bring
  • 4+ years’ experience in the field of music synchronization licensing including at least 2 years in music licensing for ads/brands
  • Relevant licensing experience at companies such as: record labels, music publishers, ad agencies, production music libraries, performing rights societies, and/or music supervision or clearance houses. Direct experience in music publishing a plus.
  • Experience clearing both recording and publishing rights
  • Strong relationships with a network of record label and publishing sync clearance contacts. Relationships with artist managers and approval representatives a plus.
  • In-depth expertise in music recording and publishing rights for synchronization
  • Understanding of PRO licenses for media platforms as they relate to synch licensing
  • Expert negotiation skills, and experience in contract review
  • Awareness of trends in the music industry, technology and media that impact synch licensing
  • Creative experience in music supervision, or creative synch services at labels/publishers a plus
  • Attention to detail and a high level of organization is imperative
  • Proficiency in organizational database applications such as Microsoft Excel, Filemaker, Google Sheets, and/or others
