The Role
Overview
The Head of Product reports to the Director of IT and is a member of their management team, working closely with peers to ensure good collaboration, contributing and continuous improvement of the wider IT organisation. Alongside this you’ll be working closely with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are understood and translated into product requirements and are ready for delivery. Stakeholder management is a critical success factor for this role and the Head of Product will make sure that stakeholders views and strategic goals are represented in the definition of product features and functions. They must be highly skilled communicators, able to work with senior stakeholders at the conceptual level and synthesise their vision into a coherent product artefact. The Head of Product leads a team of Product Owners and UX designers (~4 direct reports) and ensures that they work in line with best practices within their respective disciplines and that they interface effectively with business stakeholders and the delivery teams involved in product development, both internal and external to the organisation. The Head of Product must create and maintain processes which objectively measure product performance and ensure that effective feedback loops are implemented to promote continuous improvement. The Head of Product must lead from the front by example and will be expected to coach and mentor their team, remaining hands on, augmenting skills and capacity, removing obstacles and issues, and acting as a Product Owner where needed.
The team work closely with teams across PRS to develop digital experiences for our members, customers and business partners. Our work is informed by Agile practice and user insight, to continually deliver fixes and features.

As our Head of Product, some of your day to day duties will include….
  • Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate these into product requirements.
  • Work with development teams to ensure that products delivered meet requirements.
  • Monitor and report on the overall performance of products, identifying appropriate and relevant KPIs to communicate across teams and with stakeholders.
  • Represent the product team to other departments and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain trusted and effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Introduce and stay abreast of product management best practices.
  • Research industry and market trends, including competitor analysis, to inform product development.
  • Work closely with the Director of IT to ensure that the product team collaborates effectively with other teams.
  • Recruit, manage and coach Product Owners and UX Designers

Education, Training and Certification
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Agile Methodologies
  • Product Owner
  • Product Management
Experience
  • 5 years in an adjacent or similar product management function including line management responsibility
  • Proven experience of implementing and improving product management functions
  • Proven experience of managing product development in multi-sourced environments
  • Proven experience working closely with development teams to transition product ideas into production, as a product owner working in an Agile context
  • Proven experience of managing a budget and cost tracking in a diverse operational context
