Primary Purpose
The Event Marketing Specialist is the champion of copywriting, campaign planning, creation and delivery for Melbourne Recital Centre’s standalone events. Working closely side-by-side with the Brand Marketing Specialist, the role plays a vital role in supporting and contributing to the Marketing and Visitor Experience team’s achievement of ticketing and sales targets and increased reach and awareness of the Centre, its position and its activities through a combination of campaign and content deliverables and activities.
Accountabilities
  • Lead the development of holistic event marketing and advertising campaigns for stand-alone events to maximise return on investment and reach.
  • Manage the planning and creation of event and campaign copy for standalone MRCPresents events and activities spanning diverse genres and event types.
  • Manage the design and development of marketing and sales collateral as required
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Marketing, Development, Programming and Learning and Access) to develop, commission, review, edit and publish a range of cross-platform content to support and promote the Centre’s activities and initiatives.
  • Facilitate and respond to Marketing Services requests and contribute to the overall service offered to venue hirers and stakeholders for the department.
  • Work proactively and efficiently with the Centre’s media partners, publishers and agencies on campaigns.
  • Contribute to the development of the Centre’s brand campaigns and collaborate with the team on the execution of Membership and Fundraising campaigns.
  • Provide timely and relevant post campaign reviews and landscape analyses as required.
  • Carry out other duties that may be required.
  • Ensure all activities comply with Melbourne Recital Centre values, policies and professional and ethical standards.
  • Actively promote and represent the Melbourne Recital Centre’s principles of service excellence.
  • Foster good working relationships with all Melbourne Recital Centre staff, clients, customers and stakeholders and promote a positive and co-operative working environment.
  • In this position you will come into contact with a large amount of information, interact with a range of stakeholders and be privy to a range of commercial-in-confidence issues that must be treated with strict confidentiality and sensitivity. The incumbent must have the ability to exercise a high level of judgement and maintain confidentiality when dealing with these issues.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline or equivalent relevant experience (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing cross-platform event marketing campaigns (essential) within the arts and entertainment sector (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience planning and developing or contributing to the development of content designed to deepen awareness and engagement (essential)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with audience targeting and segmentation (essential)
  • Developed skills in advertising platforms including Meta and Google (essential)
  • Strong relationship management and collaboration skills with a diverse mix of internal and external stakeholders (essential)
  • Highly skilled attention to detail (essential)
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills in English (essential)
  • A high level of IT literacy with knowledge and experience in using the standard Microsoft office suite, and experience in and/or knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite functionality and basic desktop publishing skills. (essential)
  • Demonstrated capacity to be highly organised and manage multiple tasks and deadlines, determine workloads, set priorities, work under pressure and complete tasks within specified timeframes. (essential)
  • High standards of personal presentation and the ability to maintain good working relationships with a wide range of people at different levels both internal and external to the organisation. (essential)
  • Good working knowledge of the arts and entertainment industry, ideally live music (desirable), or a willingness to learn. (essential)
