Job Description
The Copyright Administration Manager, will liaise directly with TuneCore artists and our legal team for all issues related to rights assertion, and help resolve ownership disputes, DMCA claims, and other legal issues related to copyright and intellectual property. They will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Copyright Administration team, and work collaboratively with TuneCore’s Staff Attorneys, Customer Care, and Content Review & Rights Administration teams to ensure the legitimacy of our clients’ copyrights.
The ideal candidate should be a seasoned Operations professional with demonstrated experience managing/leading teams and working directly with clients, and has a deep knowledge of Copyright/DMCA best practices and law. They think strategically, but can also roll up their sleeves, dig in and get the job done.
Specific Duties
  • Manage a team of agents responsible for handling copyright inquiries across multiple channels and languages, ensuring that messaging is clear, accurate and consistent with the company’s brand voice.
  • Control the flow of day-to-day operations, lead and prioritize workload, and handle client escalations.
  • Establish, evaluate, meet and exceed Copyright KPIs.
  • Leverage Zendesk and internal database reporting and analytics to extract actionable insights.
  • Optimize processes and procedures for maximum efficiency.
  • Conduct regular team performance evaluations.
  • Continuously evaluate resource needs and recommend solutions to senior management.
  • Direct on-boarding of new agents, as well as ongoing training and knowledge management for all agents.
  • Work cross-functionally to resolve copyright and ownership disputes.
  • Communicate with digital music services to facilitate requests for release takedown due to Copyright claims.
  • Create a team environment that encourages accountability, high standards and optimization.
  • Identify team member strengths and assists with their professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

Education
BA/BS/JD preferred.
Knowledge/Certifications
  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and a track record of successful planning and execution.
  • Expert knowledge of copyright in a high-tech environment
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Proactive, energetic attitude with a desire to work in a results-oriented and deadline-driven environment.
  • Savvy leader capable of leading and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Jira or other issue-tracking software.
  • Proven process improvement and efficiency experience preferred.
Additional Information Equipment Operations
  • Extensive experience with Zendesk or equivalent customer service software.
  • Proficient in Google Docs and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with digital content management systems (especially iTunes Connect, Spotify Catalog Manager and YouTube Creator Studio) preferred.
  • Direct Reports Directly supervise 2 Content Administration Agents.Physical Demands

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Copyright/DMCA in a customer-facing role.
  • 3+ years of general customer-facing experience in a technical or entertainment industry environment.
  • Trust & safety/operations management experience preferred.
  • Experience working with creatives preferred.
