Assistant Publicist, BBC Proms
Description
- Supports the creation of communication materials and implementation of communication campaigns.
- First point of call for incoming enquiries, handling routine press enquiries.
- Establishes and maintains a network of contacts with the media, national and regional newspapers and magazines, online, TV and audio outlets.
- Co-ordinates events, press conferences and briefings, previews and handling requests for interviews.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external production departments, talent, their agents and representatives.
- Provides required information and writes copy to high standards of accuracy and on time.
- Ensures any support systems used within the team are maintained and up-to-date and provides administrative and project support where necessary.
- Contributes to – and leads where required - evaluation of work, collecting and analysing data and working with colleagues to assess impact of communications work.
- Supports the running of social media channels in collaboration with the wider BBC Proms team.
Requirements
- Experience in publicity, public relations or journalism, and a clear understanding of planning and executing publicity campaigns.
- A good news sense with an understanding of the news gathering process.
- The ability to deal with reputational issues under pressure and on tight deadlines.
- Experience of using social media and digital tools to promote content, generate news stories and engage new audiences.
- The ability to manage own workload effectively and assess priorities to meet conflicting deadlines, often at short notice and under pressure.
- Ability to write crisp, clear and lively copy for a range of audiences.
- Ability to create, edit and produce digital assets.
- A passion for live music.
- Experience of organizing and managing events.
