Marketing Assistant

**Job Purpose:**

Manage all aspects of Sony Music Publishing’s (SMP) Recording Studios at their Hollywood, CA office. The Manager, Recording Studios oversees the daily operations of the recording studio, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. This role involves managing Studio Assistants, coordinating studio schedules, maintaining equipment, and providing exceptional service to songwriters, artists, and clients.

**What You’ll Do: (job responsibilities)**

- Manage and facilitate daily operation and maintenance of SMP’s Recording studios in their Hollywood, CA office
- Fulfill studio requests, maintain calendar of studio sessions, and assign audio engineers/studio assistants, ensuring optimal use of studio time and resources
- Support each session with production set up, technical needs, and breakdown with audio engineers/studio assistants, facilitate access to studios for songwriters/artists
- Ensure optimum operating condition of all facility equipment, including coordinating the inspection, repair, and maintenance of equipment
- Stay updated on new technologies and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary
- Oversee that studios and lounge area are stocked, cleaned, and organized
- Maintain accurate records of studio sessions for billback purposes to songwriter/artist accounts and external invoicing, as appropriate
- Provide Purchase Orders to audio engineers for studio sessions, as appropriate
- Develop and oversee budget for repairs and maintenance of studio equipment and procurement of studio supplies and materials
- Oversee, manage, and train Studio Assistant(s) Supervise and train studio staff, including sound engineers and technicians
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and artists, address client inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally
- Investigate and resolve songwriter/artist related issues and complaints, maintain and monitor records of all incident reports
- Implement policies, procedures and programs to ensure company standards are maintained
- Handle sensitive & confidential information with discretion and the utmost professionalism

**Job Description**

New York Times Audio is hiring a Producer for a new show hosted by two-time Pulitzer-winning culture critic Wesley Morris. We’re looking for someone with experience structuring, directing and producing conversational shows that elevate ideas, complicated expected narratives and allow for moments of discovery. We’re also looking for someone who loves pop culture and the arts – all of it. For whom nothing is too high, or too low; who is curious and open-minded; and who relishes interrogating established ideas, including their own. Finally, we need a producer who knows how to work collaboratively with a host – to help shape his ideas, to push on them, and to bring them to life in audio. This position will report to the Executive Producer of Shows. This is a hybrid position based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.

**Responsibilities**


- Produce and edit the show from start to finish, in collaboration with host and editors, including research, booking, casting, pre-interviewing, scoring, cutting tape and editing with Pro-Tools, then handing off clean sessions to an engineer.
- Deliver clean cuts, on deadline, that demonstrate an understanding of the full arc of an episode. You should have an ear for pacing that maintains the flow of conversation, and an understanding of how music and archival tape can elevate and add to the conversation.
- Assist with in-studio directing of host and guests, keeping an ear on what you’ll need to build out the episode.
- Work collaboratively with the team to help plan and structure episodes with clarity of thought and narrative structure that creates maximum impact.
- Pitch episode ideas with clearly articulated stakes, and also help build off others’ ideas.
- Develops episode ideas and coverage plans in collaboration with the wider Audio and Culture desks.
- Create prep docs for the host that lay out the arc of the conversation in advance of tapings.
- Balance short-term and quick-term deadlines with longer-term planning.
- Monitor the news cycle, track big cultural moments and events, stay up to date with culture coverage from The Times and others.
- Fact check, write episode copy and titles, build article pages for Times platforms.
- Execute notes from editors, actively solicit feedback and receive it with curiosity.
- Anticipate the challenges and vulnerabilities in story ideas, production plans and tapings, and proactively offering solutions to solve them.
- Be flexible, adaptable and open-minded, modeling what respectful creative rigor and disagreement looks like.
- Foster strong connections to other Times journalists and collaborators throughout the building.
- Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
- Work alongside the audience team to develop new ways to increase listenership, using data to inform decisions.
- Manage archival and logging systems for music and other show documentation.

**Job Purpose**: The Marketing Director is responsible for developing and executing strategies that connect patrons and audiences to memorable and impactful musical experiences throughout the community. This role is also responsible for the overall expression of the VSO’s identity across all content and through its external marketing and communications efforts. Additionally, the Marketing Director is responsible for achieving subscription and single ticket revenue goals by creating and executing marketing strategies and campaigns for all Vancouver Symphony Orchestra concerts and events. This is a full-time in-person position in downtown Vancouver, WA.

**Duties and Responsibilities:**

- Build and direct a high-performing marketing team to successfully design and execute subscription and single ticket sales strategies.
- Create and implement advertising and promotional plans for VSO concerts and events.
- Secure and produce advertising and branding materials in line with VSO’s brand.
- Maintain an organized and timely production calendar for all marketing and media efforts.
- Manage website content, all media, and paid advertising.
- Oversee production of all advertising and media sponsorships.
- Oversee production, content, mailing, and timeline of direct mail campaigns and evaluate mailing lists to identify and target audiences.
- Manage public relations strategies and tactics, PR efforts, and represent VSO at speaking engagements and community involvement opportunities as directed.
- Supervise VSO’s social media presence and develop an optimal schedule and strategy for all social media platforms to maximize reach and engagement.
- Manage the marketing budget and forecast marketing expenses related to concert income.
- Oversee photo and video shoots to produce content aligned with VSO’s brand and marketing goals.
- Obtain and analyze sales, market trends, and audience data for the CEO.
- Perform additional related tasks as required.
